WHAT TO EXPECT
It’s our privilege to welcome you to South Aiken Baptist Church (SABC). Here are answers
to some of the most common questions we are asked about SABC:
How long is the service?
Each Sunday morning service lasts approximately 90 minutes.
What should I wear?
The environment of SABC is casual. So, simply put, come as you are.
What are the services like?
Sunday morning services include music, scripture readings, prayers, confessional readings, and relevant, Christ-centered preaching. The services explicitly try to have a gospel arc. It is our hope that we begin to live each day of our lives along this gospel pattern of acknowledging God as creator and ruler, recognizing and repenting of our sin, seeking the truth in God’s Word, and having God’s Word change our heart and mind.
What are the sermons like?
Preaching is central to our gatherings, and most preaching at SABC is expositional. This means that the sermon is derived from a particular passage of Scripture; the focus and message of the passage is the focus and message of the sermon. We preach the Bible—verse-by-verse and book-by-book. After the sermon, we sing a song of response and conclude our service. We believe that you’ll find in the pages of Scripture, a compelling story that is relevant to your life. You can listen to some of our most recent sermon audio on our Sermons page.
What is the music like?
Through our music, we labor to accomplish two things: worship the Triune God and lead our people into doing the same. So we play music that is true, good, and aesthetically beautiful with the aim of teaching our people the truth of the Scriptures, who God is, and what He has done for us for our salvation in Jesus Christ. Therefore, the Bible informs, inspires, and directs our worship when we gather together weekly. Our songs are chosen from modern worship songs and classic hymns and are typically led with piano and occasionally acoustic guitar. We have no desire to wow you with musical prowess; we simply want to provide a platform for the congregation to worship the Lord together through song.
The Ordinances
The ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper are also crucial elements of our corporate worship. We celebrate together the baptism of those who profess faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and whose lives evidence genuine repentance of sin. As we partake of the Lord’s Supper (4th Sunday of each month), we celebrate our redemption by confessing our sins, remembering our Lord’s death, and rejoicing in His all-sufficient sacrifice.
